Museums have always been spaces for displaying objects of art and have been a focus of the respective contemporary discourse in society. Their architecture reveals development and change in society.
Dipl.-Ing. architect Nikolaus Goetze, gmp Partner and Head of the offices in Hamburg, Shanghai, and Hanoi, discusses the phenomenon of museum buildings in his lecture on 16 November 2016 at Tongji University in Shanghai, taking selected museums and cultural buildings as examples from the diverse oeuvre of gmp. These include Kunsthalle Mannheim, which is currently being built, the Maritime Museum in Lingang, and the Culture Centre in Changzhou, as well as the Museum for Art, Culture, and Science in Changchun, amongst others. The lecture will be moderated by Prof. Dr. Li Zhenyu.
