The new urban link to existing major shopping locations improves the urban planning and architectural quality of the immediate surroundings of the Duisburg Galeria. The spacious glass arcade is accentuated by two glazed elliptical building elements. The so vaulted "towers" are urban landmarks visible from a distance, which accentuate the entrance situation. The upper floors with suspended foyers can be reached by open steel stairs, glazed staircases and lifts. Varied blue bricks with dark pointing, steel and glass are the external features of the building, granite, stainless steel and wood the internal ones. Axialism and symmetry are interrupted in the interior by the asymmetric structure of the glass roof. On the upper floor the paths are located behind galleries to maintain the height of the inner façade.
