Surrounding glass strips enclose the building in a seemingly flowing movement. In response to the inner courtyards the façade possesses curvilinear setbacks, which follow the trapezoidal plan and present great plasticity. At the same time the deliberate modelling of the glass strips characterizes the entrances. Sharp-edged cornice profiles generate a vertical structure on the glass façade. Images can be projected onto the façades with the support of mirrors, making the building appear at night as a symbol of modern media technology.

The large public areas of the cultural centre are accessed via a mall in north-south direction, which offers a generous gallery space on the first six floors. The hall of the internal building part opens to the eastern road. This V-shaped space evokes a unique atmosphere, which is still increased by light and sound installations. The roof level is designed as a business centre with restaurants, bars, discotheques and terraces. In a height of 80 m visitors enjoy the panorama view over Beijing.
