The Inter Pares Duo was established in Berlin in 2006 and has been based since then in both Germany and Chile. It has a busy concert schedule both at home and abroad.

Along with the concerts, the duo is committed to its outreach programme, bringing music particularly to children from very simple backgrounds. The programme gets under way with the first CMMC International Chamber Music Course in Frutillar, Chile, which was co-founded by the duo and is artistically directed by them.

The underlying idea of the duo was to elevate the violin/piano duo to a new kind of ensemble in which, as in a string quartet or piano trio, the instruments have abso-lutely equal status.

Jacques Ammon and Sophie Heinrich are equally experienced as soloists and chamber musicians. It was this wealth of experience that, as independent artists, they decided to invest in the Inter Pares Duo.
