On the occasion of the twelfth Heidelberger Schlossgespräche on 15 November 2016 at 19:00 hours, the two founding partners of gmp, Prof. Dr. h.c. mult. Meinhard von Gerkan and Prof. Dr. h.c. Volkwin Marg will present selected projects from their wide-ranging portfolio, which were created in different cultural spheres. The focus of the talk in the lecture series entitled "Unity in Diversity. International Cultural Buildings by the Architects von Gerkan, Marg and Partners" will be on a cross-section of theatre, event and museum buildings. The event, which takes place in the Königssaal of Heidelberg Castle, will be moderated by Wolfgang Riehle, BDA, Architect and Town Planner, as well as Honorary President of the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects. Following the talk, there will be a roundtable discussion including the Director of Kunsthalle Mannheim, Dr. Ulrike Lorenz, and the journalist and architectural critic, Prof. Dr. Falk Jaeger.
The event, which is part of the forum "Heidelberger Schlossgespräche – Conversations on Architecture", is intended as a platform for dialog. The analysis and discussion of exceptional architectural examples starts with the historical context. The forum is an initiative of the Mannheim and Heidelberg office of Vermögen und Bau Baden-Württemberg and the Staatliche Schlösser und Gärten Baden-Württemberg, partnered by the City of Heidelberg, the Chamber of Architects of Baden-Württemberg, the Association of German Architects and the SRH University, Heidelberg, and is sponsored by Volksbank Kurpfalz.
