How does the future of urban planning look like? In his lecture on the occasion of the Hamburger Städtebauseminar on 8th February 2017, at 6.30 pm, Prof. Dr.-Ing. h.c. Volkwin Marg provides an insight into his rich experience concerning urban planning. “HafenCity weiterbauen – Zukunftsperspektiven” (“Future Visions for Building HafenCity”) is the title of his explanations, which concentrate on new ways of constructions as well as their cultural relevance. The new Chinese city Lingang will therefor serve as an example: gmp had planned it as satellite of Shanghai and created a new context.
The annual lecture series is organized by Hamburger Städtebauseminar. The charitable association considers itself as independent platform for discussion and training open for all actors in urban development. Current topics from city planning, architecture, landscape planning, housing, real estate management or infrastructure planning are analyzed critically. Different examples from planning practice serve as a basis for reflection and interdisciplinary discussion. The offer is accompanied by a city planning excursion.
