Perspectives on the eventful history of Hamburg’s HafenCity – this is the topic of the lecture by Prof. Dr.-Ing. h.c. Volkwin Marg on Thursday, 8th June 2017, at the Leuphana University Lüneburg. At 7 pm, the gmp founding partner will review the formation process of the new city quarter and will take this as specific example to illustrate the decisive elements of city planning.

Hamburg’s HafenCity offers many perspectives to exemplify the challenges of city planning. Prof. Dr.-Ing. h.c. Volkwin Marg was substantially involved in the development of this new city quarter. Thus the gmp founding shares his well-founded experience in a lecture at the Leuphana University Lüneburg on 8th June 2017 at 7 pm. “HafenCity: The invention of a new city quarter” is the title of the event that is organized by the Forum Baukultur Lüneburg e.V. and will take place in lecture hall 4.
The institution Forum Baukultur Lüneburg e.V. sees itself as a platform to promote a dynamic dialogue between various disciplines such as architecture, city and traffic planning and landscape design as well as social sciences, cultural sciences, art and environmental sciences. The interaction of theory and practical experiences is in the focus – the “city” serves as main topic that leads to discussions about various perspectives: With its changing and changeable character it is subject of a critical analysis.
