The lecture by Wu Wei „ The Artisan Spirit in the Architectural Works of gmp” will mainly focus on three gmp projects in China, which are located in different places, have different functions and design backgrounds: the National Museum of China in Beijing, the Qingdao Grand Theater and Huawei Shenzhen New Software R&D Center. These three projects will be taken as examples for the students to understand the working scope and experience of an architect, from the acquisition of the project to the final realization.
The gmp architects take the project as an whole piece with a generalist position, and always integrate the architecture with interior design, which shows their “artisan spirit” from master planning to details. Furthermore, the lecture will especially take the Huawei Shenzhen New Software R&D Center as an example of the new concept of “architects’ responsibilities” , this project is one of the first projects in China in which this concept is applied.
