This year’s trade fair FENESTRATION BAU China from 7 to 10 November 2017 will be supplemented by a lecture program focusing on examples of best practice. “Flowing Spaces. Three projects on Architecture and Landscape” is consequently the title of the speech by gmp partner Stephan Schütz on 10 November. On this occasion he will be reporting on the gmp-projects Huawei Technological Factory Buildings in Beijing and Shenzhen or the Wuzhen Medical Park.
During the last decades China’s rapid urbanization results in a substantially changed perception of architecture and landscape. Whilst the Chinese tradition strives for harmony between architecture and landscape within the classical Chinese garden, this balance between the built environment and landscape spaces seems to be lost in many cases. The selected three projects search for a return to traditional qualities by contemporary means.
As part of the overarching trade fair FENESTRATION BAU China, the lecture series will take place during the BAU Congress China event. Kai-Uwe Bergmann (BIG), Wei Chen (sbp), Satoshi Ohashi (Zaha Hadid), and Wolf Mangelsdorf (BuroHappold) will be among the guest speakers on the scene during the three lecture days. Practical solutions for tomorrow's urban development, future building systems and projects in China will be highlighted in the talks. One of the hosts of the lecture series will be Boris Schade-Bünsow, editor-in-chief at Bauwelt magazine, Berlin.
