In his lecture, gmp founding partner Meinhard von Gerkan is providing a look behind the scenes of his architectural project as well as the philosophy that has shaped his work since the beginning.

In his lecture at Tongji University, Meinhard von Gerkan explains the philosophy that has always articulated itself in the clear architectural language of his firm. From the podium, he takes the audience on a journey through his oeuvre. Simplicity, diversity and unity, distinctiveness and structural order are the principles that characterise all buildings.
In the lecture von Gerkan concentrates on gmp projects in China. From the German School in Beijing to Lingang New City to recently completed buildings such as the Greenland Zhengzhou Towers, he introduces the subject. He presents large-scale structures such as the Nanning trade fair as well as stadium buildings and museums. He will close his lecture with villa buildings and the office locations in Hamburg, where the gmp headquarters are located.
