On 20th January, Nikolaus Goetze will be speaking about his experiences and impressions in China and the outlook for the future, as part of the "China and Modernity" series of academy lectures.

The Academy of Sciences in Hamburg will be holding a series of five lectures in 2010/2011 on the subject of China and modernity. Speakers are China experts, sociologists and architects.
The architectural firm of gmp (von Gerkan, Marg and Partners) has a workforce of 120 at its offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, and in the last ten years has undertaken over 90 building commissions in China. They range from Lingang New City, a satellite city for around 800,000 people near Shanghai, via the Poly Plaza complex, to the National Museum in Beijing.
