gmp director, Martin Glass, will speak at the "Membrane constructions for the energy efficiency upgrade of buildings" symposium on the subject "Membrane projects by gmp Architects – experiences and outlook".

During the "Membrane constructions for the energy efficiency upgrade of buildings" symposium, current and planned future research activities on this subject will be presented and discussed; the intention is to organise and strengthen the exchange between developers, designers and users beyond the scope of individual projects.

In recent years the von Gerkan, Marg and Partners architectural practice has been able to design a number of spectacular membrane projects in which the material was used in roofs, façades, ceiling linings and also in retractable structures. Based on the experience gained from these projects, but also in view of the ongoing development of textile building materials, Martin Glass who is a director at gmp and who has been actively involved with membrane con-struction for 14 years, will present a review of the experience gained in various applications and an outlook on the potential applications offered by the material.
