The rapid development of urbanization in China has provided an unprecedented platform for architects both in China and from all over the world. It is a platform where international and local, creative and controversial elements co-exist. In this context, the“Design for City”International Architectural Summit Forum aims to foucus on architectural design and the future construction of Chinese cities. In 2015, the development of Chinese urban construction has become increasingly rational.The“Design for China”International Architectural Summit Forum co-hosted by the China Building Center (CBC) and Urban Environment Design (UED) Magazine. The invited architects from China and abroad will discuss and exchange ideas around issues such as the susutainability of cities, its climate and regions as well as its cultural genes taking the capital city Beijing as an example. Architecture is changing not only the city but also people’s way of manner. This forum is to slow down and reflect on the rapid urban development in China. More than 500 urban construction governors, developers and architects will be invited to push the discussion beyond the academic level so as to influence the urban construction deciders, driving the development of urbanization in China into a positive direction.

Christian De Portazmparc
Christian de Portazmparc is a well-known architectural designer, urban planner and artist from France who won the Pritzker in 1994. He is also an honorable member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and has won honors such as Legion of Honour and Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. Portazmparc has been engaged in artistic creation sucn as sculpture and painting since childhood. While working on architectural design, he also teaches and makes researches. He owes much of his fame to his various extraordinary buildings. His background of playing multiple roles often leads people to wonder whether he is an architect, an urban planner or an artist. To answer this question, he demonstrates to the public that he combines the three characters through outstanding performances.
Pekka Salminen, the most international and prestigious architect after contemporary architecture master of Alvar Aaltoin Finland, who is a member of Finnish Academy of Sciences and served as President of Finnish Association of Architects, President of Association of Finnish Architects’ Offices andPresident of theAlvar Aalto Medalcommitteewhich is the highest awardin Finnish architecture. Based onPekka’soutstanding work and contribution to the country, he was awarded the honorary title of Professor (Nordic highest academic title) by President of Finland in 1998 and is one of the Finnish domestic seven alive persons with this title currently. His workis based on Scandinavian tradition, emphasizing function, user experience, carefully designed details and natural materials such as wood. His design features innovative use of materials and new technologies in architecture and interior design.Thinking and keeping in mind the long lifespan of expensive building from perspective of user is always the principle he has been following.Pekka’ssignature work, for instance,Wuxi Grand Theatre,St Mary Concert Hall, Lahti City Theatre, Helsinki-Vantaa Airport can be long lasting and stand the test of time.
Preston Scott Cohen
PRESTON SCOTT COHEN, Principal, the Gerald M. McCue Professor of Architecture at Harvard University Graduate School of Design. He is the author of Contested Symmetries(Princeton Architectural Press, 2001) and numerous theoretical and historical essays on architecture. His work has been widely published and exhibited and is in numerous collections including The Museum of Modern Art, New York, The Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles and the Fogg Museum of Art, Harvard. He lectures regularly in prestigious venues around the world. Cohen’s work has been the subject of numerous theoretical assessments by renowned critics and historians including Sylvia Lavin, Antoine Picon, Michael Hays, Nikolaus Kuhnert, Terry Riley, Robert Somol, Hashim Sarkis and Rafael Moneo. Cohen has held faculty positions at Princeton University, Rhode Island School of Design, and Ohio State University. He was the Frank Gehry International Chair at the University of Toronto in 2004 and the Perloff Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles in 2002.
As one of the most outstanding architects in contemporary Korea, Seung, H-ang started his own office—IROJE Architects & Planners in 1989. He is core member of the 4.3 Group, which helped to shape the past 20 years of Korean architecture. Seung, H-ang is professor of the Seoul School of Architecture. Seung has designed many world-famous buildings such as Welcomm City in Seoul (2000); Commune by the Great Wall in Beijing (2001); Chao-Wei SOHO project in Beijing (2005); Korea DMZ Peace-Life Valley in InJe (2005); Guggenheim Pavilion in Abu Dhabi (2007); and the grave of the late former President of Korea, Roh Moo-hyun in Kimhae (2009). Seung was an Honorary Fellow of The American Institute of Architects in 2002 and the Korean National Museum of Contemporary of Art named him “artist of the year” in 2002, the first architect to receive the honor.

Kerez won the “Excellent Building Award,1998-2000” for the Kunstmuseum Vaduz, Lichtenstein (in collaboration with Morger & Degelo, Basel) in 2000. In 2006, he won the“Award for Excellent Buildings, 2002-2005,” for the Apartment in Forsterstrasse. In 2012, Kerez was selected as honorable member of Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and got the Kenzo Tange Chair for Architecture from Graduate School of Design, Harvard University in Cambridge MA. In 2015, he won the“Holcim Sustainability Award 2014” for Holcim Competence Center.
Wong Mun Summ
Wong Mun Summ graduated from National University of Singapore as an elite student in 1989. He is a well-known architectural designer of international fame and founding partner of WOHA, which is an architectural firm based in Singapore starded by Mun Summ Wong and Richard Hassell. WOHA is one of the most renowned international architectural firms in Singapore and has won numerous awards since its foundation 14 years ago. The design of WOHA pays much attention to modern, regional and environmental elements. It won the Aga Khan award in 2007 for its design of the 1 Moulmein Rise in Singapore--the first high rise in tropical areas and has won four world architecture awards in World Architecture Festival 2009 and 2010 successively.
Stephan Schütz, Dipl.-Ing. Architect BDA, born 1966 in Duisburg, Germany, graduate architect from TU Braunschweig in 1985, joined gmp in 1994, management of Beijing Office from 2000 to 2004; associate partner of gmp from 2004 to 2006, partner of gmp since 2006. His main projects include New Weimar Hall, New Tempodrom in Berlin, Kulturpalast Dresden, Christian Church in Beijing, CYTS Plaza in Beijing, Huijia Education Center in Beijing, National Museum of China, Qingdao Grand Theater, Shenzhen Universiade Sports Center, Jiaming Center in Beijing, Qingdao Center, Tiantai Financial Plaza in Qingdao, Greenland Center in Zhengzhou, Huawei Development & Research Office Building in Shenzhen etc.
Mr. Bannura has spent the last 7 years living and working in Beijing since he joined Steven Holl Architects in 2007. In 2010, Mr. Bannura was made Director of the Beijing office, and as such has overseen a number of ongoing projects and competitions. Prior to his involvement in China, Mr. Bannura spent 10 years living and working in New York City, six of which he spent working with Gwathmey Siegel & Associate Architects as a Project Architect. He was responsible for the design development and management of a number of high profile educational, commercial and residential projects.Mr. Bannura received his Degree of Architect and Urban Planner from the Universidad de Chile in 1995 (master degree equivalent), where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. He then continued his studies in Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile where he obtained a degree on Urban Economy in 1997.

Senior member of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, member of RIBA, honorable fellow of AIA, registered architect of Hong Kong, Grade 1 registered architct of China and executive director of ROCCO Design Architects Limited. He started his own office in 1979 and became partner of ROCCO in 1982. Wang Hui is founding partner of Urbanus. He is an architect licensed in New York State. He received his Bachelor degree from School of Architecture, Tsinghua University and his Master degrees in architecture from Tsinghua University and University of Miami. Wang Hui co-founded Urbanus with his partners LIU Xiaodu and MENG Yan in 1999, now Urbanus has become one of the most influential architectural design firms in China. After co-managing the earlier works of Urbanus in Shenzhen, Wang Hui began to take responsibilities of Urbanus Beijing and he participated in many urban and architectural design works in the Jing-Jin-Tang Delta Area and the Yangtze River Delta Area. Wang Hui is member of the Architects Branch of Architectural Society of China. He has worked as jury and academic reference for many important design awards of both China and the abroad. He is often invited to make speeches at important academic institutions worldwide and is design lecturer in School of Architecture, Tsinghua University and visting professor at the ADA research center of the Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture.

Liang Jingyu participated the International Biennale of Architecture and Design, San Paolo, Brazil in 2005. His work was selected for the China Contemporary Exhibition (Architecture, Design and Visual Culture) in Rotterdam, the Netherlands in 2006. In 2007, he worked as curator for Get It Louder. In 2008, he was awarded Excellent Architecture in China by the World Architecture magazine. In 2009, as a member of the curating team, he was commissioned to be responsible for the exhibition space design of the Shenzhen and Hong Kong Biennial. He is often invited to make speeches in architectural schools and institutes both in China and the abroad. Many of his architectural works and articles have been published.
Ma Yansong was born in Beijing and he is considered as the most important voice and representative of architects of a new generation. He is the first Chinese architect who has won a significant landmark building overseas. In 2006, Ma Yansong won the Young Architect Award of Architectural League of New York. In 2008, he was selected as one of the 20 most influential young designers by ICON Magazine. In 2010, Ma Yansong was selected as RIBA international honorable fellow.In 2013, he won the first D21 Young Architect Award of Chinese Architectural Design in the Beijing Design Week. In 2014, he was selected as the “2014 Young Global Leaders” by World Economic Forum. Now he is visting professor at Tsinghua University and Peking University of Civil Engineering and Architecture.
