The challenge of the third UrbanLab edition by IGSI (Integrated Urban Development and Co-production for Indian Cities) will be a concrete transformation project that is looking for ways to unlock inner-city-potentials by implementing smart city elements. Once again, gmp is participating in the conference.
In cooperation with the Technische Universität Berlin, a conference with the title “Dialogue on Smart Cities: Can Human-Centred Innovation Design Digital Futures?“ will stimulate the knowledge transfer of scientists, representatives of government institutions and planning experts. The program of the UrbanLab #3 consists of workshops and an excursion as well.
Projects by gmp in India include Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and the SPM Swimming Stadium in Delhi, the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Complex in Chennai, the New Campus IIT in Hyderabad, and a master plan for train station development.
As network of renowned German research and planning institutions, IGSI strives for a knowledge transfer, especially between Germany and India in the sector of Smart Cities. By working on current planning tasksissues, the participants of the UrbanLab will investigate programmatic gaps in recent smart city proposals and will explore methods of integrated and collaborative planning processes, which set individuals and users in the center of urban spaces.
