Paulo Ferreira is a famous young genius who plays the modern bassoon. His style is completely unconventional and he plays this instrument solo with great radiance and virtuosity. An abso-lute must for those keen on musical exploration!

Paulo Alexandre dos Santos Ferreira – Bassoon
Paulo Ferreira was born in Famalicão, Portugal, in 1992. He started his musical studies there when only aged 10. In 2004 he was admitted to the bassoon class of Professor Pedro Silva. He became a member of the “Orquestra Artave”, of the “Orquestra Aproarte” and of the State Youth Orchestra of Schleswig-Holstein. This gave Paulo Ferreira the opportunity of working together with conduc-tors such as Ernst Schelle, Colin Metters, Elisabeth Fuchs and Cesario Costa. In addition, he attended master classes with Sergio Azzolini, Giorgio Mandolesi, Lyndon Watts and Guenter Pfitzenmeier. In the "Terras de La Salette" competition for wind instruments he was awarded 1st Prize, in the "David Russel" competition (Vigo, Spain) he obtained the prize for bassoon and in the 48th Possehl music competition, he was awarded 2nd Prize. He holds scholarships from the Marie-Luise Imbusch Foundation and from the DAAD Matching Fund. For the last year, Paulo Ferreira has been studying in Professor Pierre Martens’ class at the Lübeck Academy of Music.
