A dinner is no snack whilst standing up, no quick filling with repleting side dishes. A dinner consists of several courses, which are consumed with connoisseurship, concentration, accompanied by pleasant conversation. It is not about simply getting full, but it is a synthesis of the arts of ambience and enjoyment. The seating must do justice to this demand: When eating, one has to be seated upright, whilst the seat must allow comfortable reclining between courses to converse with one's neighbour. Furthermore one has to be able to spend several hours in the chair without suffering from discomfort. This chair performs all these qualities. It is comfortably shaped for the back and characterized by a visible honesty and simplicity (desirable qualities of the conversation at table).
