The building project is part of the redevelopment of the western embankment of the Yuyao River running through the city center of Ningbo. The 160 m high tower block with a gross floor area of 89,600 m² on 36 floors protrudes the Ningbo skyline and becomes the new landmark of the striving economic region located south of Shanghai.

The concept for the building on Heyi Road generates its form from two curved elements, which are connected in their center, thereby generating the shape of butterfly. The central axis of the building is positioned at right angles to the river embankment, thus stating its relationship to the river. The glazed center accommodates the tower core with the serving functions. A two-storeyed recess defines the upper part of the tower.

The building accommodates a five-star Marriott Hotel with 325 rooms, ranging from the generous King Room to the Presidential Suites. Office areas and commercial facilities are planned along the embankment promenade. The new design of the landscape park forms part of the planning.
